Blueberria is situated in the picturesque countryside of Cantabria. In this beautiful area, you'll discover rolling hills, mountains, farms, expansive landscapes, and charming Spanish houses. Our village, Barcéna de Cicero, is also a short distance from stunning beaches that are guaranteed to take your breath away.
Close by, you can visit lively coastal cities like Santoña, Laredo, Isla, Noja, and Castro Urdiales. These places are perfect for taking a walk, experiencing the local culture, grabbing a drink, and trying tasty local food.
In the Cantabria region, there are plenty of things to do and lots of places to explore. Our guesthouse is in a handy spot between two big cities, Santander and Bilbao, making it a great spot for a fantastic all-around vacation.
Near Blueberria, you'll find some famous spots waiting to be discovered, like San Vicente de la Barquera, Comillas, Castro Urdiales, the Oyambre Nature Reserve, and Santillana del Mar.
Besides these, there are many other activities you can enjoy, such as hiking, biking, surfing, and experiencing the rich culture of the region.
HIKING
This area is just lovely for taking relaxed walks and gentle hikes surrounded by breathtaking landscapes. You've got the choice to either enjoy the charming beaches nearby or wander through the picturesque mountains surrounding the region.
Whether you like walking along peaceful beaches, through mountainous terrain where cows and horses graze, or along trails leading to waterfalls, there's something here for everyone. And for those who are looking for a bit more adventure, there are exciting hikes awaiting in the majestic Picos de Europa mountains.
And to make it even better, after enjoying the beauty of nature, you can head back home and relax.
You'll find a lot of walking routes available online, with our assistance, or by dropping by the local tourist information center. So, if you'relooking for a peaceful escape to reconnect with nature, hiking is the way to go.
SURFING
Cantabria has lots of great places to surf. When the waves and wind are just right, you can try surfing, bodyboarding, windsurfing, or even kayaking. Many places here are set up for surfing, with places to wash off at the beach and plenty of parking.
The closest surf spot is Playa de Berria, where you can find local surf schools that rent out boards and wetsuits. There are also other spots nearby, like Laredo and Playa de Somo, where you can rent gear and take lessons. So, whether you're new to surfing or an expert, it's easy to give it a go here.
We love surfing ourselves, and we can promise you'll find some amazing days with perfect glassy waves. Not to mention the views of the mountains, snowy peaks, and hills with cows in the background make it even more special.
BIKING
You can also explore the area by bike, including mountain biking. There are plenty of cycling paths all around Cantabria, where you'll see lots of beautiful nature. Many of these paths even go by the beach. You can find more details about them on different websites.
For those who are really adventurous, there are many mountain biking trails to try out. Here, you can discover parts of the mountains that haven't been touched much. And with the Picos de Europa mountains at the end of Cantabria, we have some challenging routes suitable for all levels of mountain bikers.
Culture
Discover Cantabria's rich culture! Explore ancient caves like Altamira and wander through picturesque villages such as Santillana del Mar. Visit museums like the Cantabrian Maritime Museum and experience vibrant local traditions at festivals like the Fiesta del Marisco.
